Trapping Sand

Imagine going to a place where everyone thinks is paradise, but when you get there, you feel absolutely worthless, useless, and immobile. This is the beach for me. Today I went to the most beautiful beach in Cartagena; La Playa Blanca Baru. Luckily for me, I always seem to come across the most kind-hearted people. When Nemal found out I went on this boat ride to the beach alone, he said, "don't worry, I'll stay with you. If you need anything, just let me know. It's no problem." He worked at the beach, but he did not have to stay with me. He is a construction worker but he works at the beach during the holidays and weekends. This week is "Holy Week" so everyone is on holiday. Since I always seem to be doing things on the fly, I had no idea once the boat dropped us off at the beach 📷🌊, we were not going to get a return boat for nearly four hours! There was sand all around me. 📷😓 True to his word, Nemal was there for me the whole four hours and more...the boat was late to depart. He brought me lunch without me asking, he gave me lemonade when I was thirsty, and he even bargained for better prices for me when I needed an umbrella 📷🌂 to give me some shade from the scorching sun. Oh, did I mentioned he held me as I struggled to swim in the ocean with my clothes on since I didn't even bring a swimsuit on this trip. I had no idea it would just be sand around me for as far as the eye could see. I was soaking wet, salty and hot afterwards, but it was totally worth it. As he helped me back on the boat, he gave me the most beautiful smile. It is people like Nemal who inspire me to become a kind and helpful person in this world. 📷🌎 #everydayheroes
