1. Nearly all the restaurants/grocery stores/pubs/bars have at least one step leading into them.
2. Unless you are right in the downtown area (i.e. Grand Place), it is difficult to find someone who can speak fluent English to help with directions. French is the main language spoken here.
3. It is mainly cobblestone roads/sidewalks here, making it very hard to wheel on four wheels most of the time.
4. The friendliness of the people varies from person to person.
5. According to the 50 minute city tour I took, 28% of the population is under the age of 20.
6. After traveling in the other big cities in Europe, it is a bit of a relief to get away from the bustling, crazy, chaotic big city life. Although, this city was a bit too sleepy for me.
8. The public transportation system seems more wheelchair accessible than most of the big cities I've traveled to in the world.
9. The buses are wheelchair accessible, but one of the ramps on the bus did malfunction during my stay.
10. The subways also seem to be mostly wheelchair accessible, but one of the elevators was also out of commission when I tried using it. Lille only has two subway lines so far, red line and yellow line.
11. Trams going into the suburbs of Lille also seemed to have been wheelchair accessible.
12. After visiting Lille, I've decided I definitely thrive better in big cities rather than in little cities.
